Ekadashi 2024
The eleventh date of the Hindu calendar is called Ekadashi. Ekadashi is a word derived from the Sanskrit language which means 'eleven'. Ekadashi Tithi is considered very important in Hinduism. There is a law to worship Lord Vishnu on the day of Ekadashi. Fasting, devotion, and chanting on the day of Ekadashi give freedom from all the troubles of human life. Ekadashi comes twice in every month – one after Shukla Paksha and the other after Krishna Paksha. The Ekadashi that comes after the full moon is called Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha and the Ekadashi that comes after Amavasya is called Ekadashi of Shukla Paksha. Ekadashi of each side has its own importance. Although many fasts etc. are observed in the Hindu religion, Ekadashi fast is considered to be the oldest among all.
