Veer Pasali Method, Fast And Vrat Katha

Veer Pasali is a festival similar to Rakshabandhan and is celebrated in the month of Shravan in Gujarat. It is celebrated on the first Sunday of Shravan month. The date of Veer Pasali in 2024 is August 11. For some communities, it is on August 10 (who celebrate it on the first Saturday of Shravan month). Though it is not widespread, some communities strictly follow the rituals of this day. This ritual is also known as Veer Pasli. The month of Shravan in Gujarat in 2024 is from August 5 to September 3.

On this day the sister ties the holy thread on her brother's wrist. He vows to protect her. The brother visits his married sister's house on this day and performs the ritual. Please note that there is some confusion as to the date of Veer Pasli. Some people claim that this ritual is celebrated on the first Saturday of the month of Shravan. Whereas some claim it is celebrated on the first Sunday.

Method Of Fasting Vir Pasli

This fast can be done from any Sunday of Shravan month and ends on the next Sunday. Sisters observe this fast for the welfare of their brother, and father. The brother gives them gifts according to his ability and receives their blessings. If a sister does not have a real brother, then this fast can also be done for the person she considers her real brother.┬а

How To Fast Veer Pasali

In this fast, take a thread of eight threads (it is said that there are eight threads in eight threads) tie eight knots in it, and burn incense every morning and evening for eight days. Food can be eaten only after burning incense. Whatever grain the brother gives you, cook it and eat it. After eight days, tie the thread to the Peepal tree.

Veer Pasali Vrat Katha┬а

A farmer lived in a village. He had seven sons and a daughter named Sheela. All the seven siblings were married. The younger brother was good and kind. At the same time, the elder six brothers were treacherous. He separated the younger brother. Sheela lived in Sansariya with her younger brother who was bored with Kankas.

The elder brothers earned money by cheating. While the younger brother was barely making ends meet by working as a laborer in the fields. So to help the younger brother, Sheela went to the elder brothers to ask for work. Then her sisters-in-law proudly said that Nandbaba, if possible, do the work of grazing cattle. Sister needed work. So they said yes. In the evening the sisters-in-law would take the cattle home and eat whatever was given to them.

Once while grazing the cattle, they saw some girls fasting and asked what is this fast for. The girl said that today is Veerpasali and we have taken Veerpasali threads. We will tie that thread on the brother's right hand and cook and eat so much food that the brother's stomach is full.

Sheela asked what would be the benefit of this. The girls said that this would make my brother's whole year pass in peace and happiness. Sheela eagerly took the thread and thanked her. She burned the thread for eight days. On the eighth day, Sheela started tying threads at her brother's house. But the sisters-in-law broke the thread and threw the sister-in-law out.

Sheela comes home sad but she ties it to her younger brother with love. Nanabhai gives Savasher Kodra, which he had borrowed from Vaniya's shop, to sow the field. He also gives a lump of clay and a copper coin.

Sheela accepts her brother's words and says that in the Kodra is my heart, the lump of clay is round and the copper coin is a rupee. When Sheela came out of the house she saw a miracle. Her husband came and sat on the bed in the courtyard. Today after many years he came to meet her. Maa had nothing to give to her daughter-in-law, so she went to her six daughters-in-law, the daughters-in-law gave a packet of their discarded saris to Nandaba.

Maa gave this packet to Sheela. The son-in-law and daughter started walking. They reached the lake while walking. They left without bathing in the morning. So Sheela went to the pond to take a bath. After bathing she asked her husband to give her a saree. The husband opened the box and asked which color to give. Hearing this Sheela realized that her husband was joking. But when she came and saw, there were ethnic saris there. She thought that this was the beginning of the fast. When she looked in the box, the copper coins given by the younger brother had turned into gold. The clay ball and Kodrani had become Kamod.

Sheela took Sonamhor and sent her husband to the village to bring food. Then a miracle happened and a magnificent house was built on the bank of the lake. After a while when the husband came, he was surprised to see a grand house on the bank of the pond. Sheela told her husband from the third floor that all this was because of the Pratap Vrat. Many other gold coins were also found in the house. Ben started living happily.

On the other hand, when there was a famine in his brother's village, he set out in search of work. While walking, we came across a grand house on the banks of this lake. So he hopes that he will get some work here. The sister put the six brothers and sister-in-law to work in the garden, while the younger brother kept the sister-in-law and parents comfortable at home.

One day Sheela invited all the brothers for dinner. The six brothers were served gold laddus and the sisters-in-law were served silver laddus while the younger brother served churma laddus to the sister-in-law. The brothers recognized their sister and realized their mistake. He apologized to his sister and started living together.
