Significance of Varuthini Ekadashi
If an unfortunate woman observes this fast, then she gets good luck. Due to the influence of this Varuthini Ekadashi, King Mandhata went to heaven. The result of Varuthini Ekadashi is equal to ten thousand years of penance. The fruit that is obtained by donating gold at the time of the solar eclipse in Kurukshetra, the same fruit is obtained by fasting on Varuthini Ekadashi. It is said in the scriptures that the donation of an elephant is better than the donation of a horse. Varuthini Ekadashi Fast Worship Method
Eat Satvik food on the night of the Dashami date. Ekadashi fasting is done in two ways. First by staying waterless and second by eating fruits. On Ekadashi Tithi, wake up before sunrise and take a bath after retiring from defecation, etc after this take a vow of fasting. After that worship Lord Vishnu duly with Akshat, Deepak, Naivedya, etc. sixteen ingredients. Then, if there is a Peepal tree near the house, worship it as well and light a ghee lamp by offering raw milk to its root. If you are away from home, then worship Tulsi. Story of Varuthini Ekadashi Fast
It is believed that once Dharmaraj Yudhishthir requested Lord Krishna to listen to the importance of Ekadashi of Vaishakh month Krishna Paksha and the story of its fast. After this, while narrating the story to Yudhishthira, Lord Krishna said that in ancient times a king named Mandhata ruled on the banks of the river Narmada. He was a charitable king with very religious views. He was always engrossed in worship while meditating on God. Once King Mandhata was doing penance in the forest, a bear came there and started eating the king's leg and started dragging the king's leg to the forest. The king was severely injured, so he could not defend himself. Then King Mandhata prayed to Lord Narayana for his protection.
Hearing the king's call, Lord Vishnu saved him by killing the bear with his discus. But when the king saw his feet, he was very sad and then remembered God. When God appeared, the king asked him how to get rid of physical and mental suffering Lord. Then God said that it was the crime of your previous birth. Now you go to Mathura and keep fast on Varuthini Ekadashi with devotion and worship my Varah Avatar. With the effect of this fast, once again you will become like before.
