  • Lotus is the seat of Maa Siddhidatri, on which the Maa sits.

  • Maa wears a crown on her head and the dim smile on her face looks very seductive.

  • Maa Siddhidatri has four arms, in one hand she holds a mace and in the other hand, she holds a chakra. She holds a conch shell in one hand and a lotus flower in the other hand.

  • Maa Siddhidatri wears red clothes.

  • Maa Siddhidatri is the bestower of all kinds of siddhis.

Story of Maa Siddhidatri


According to Hindu belief, Lord Shiva did penance to Maa Siddhidatri to attain the eight siddhis. The eight siddhis that Lord Shiva received from Maa Siddhidatri are – Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva, and Vashitva.

Maa Siddhidatri was pleased with the austerity of Lord Shiva and granted him the desired accomplishments. According to Hindu scriptures, Maa Adishakti appeared on the left side of Lord Shiva in the form of Maa Siddhidatri, making half the body of Lord Shiva that of Maa Siddhidatri. Since then Lord Shiva is also known as Ardhanarishvara.

 

Significance Of 9th Day of Navratri

 

Maa Siddhidatri is the ninth form of Maa Durga and her name means one who gives us strength. Devotees worship her on Mahanavami, and it is believed that she removes ignorance from her devotees and bestows them with knowledge.

स्वर्णवर्णा निर्वाणचक्र स्थिताम् नवम् दुर्गा त्रिनेत्राम्।

शङ्ख, चक्र, गदा, पद्मधरां सिद्धीदात्री भजेम्॥

पटाम्बर परिधानां मृदुहास्या नानालङ्कार भूषिताम्।

मञ्जीर, हार, केयूर, किङ्किणि रत्नकुण्डल मण्डिताम्॥

प्रफुल्ल वन्दना पल्लवाधरां कान्त कपोला पीन पयोधराम्।

कमनीयां लावण्यां श्रीणकटिं निम्ननाभि नितम्बनीम्॥
