Story of Maa Siddhidatri
According to Hindu belief, Lord Shiva did penance to Maa Siddhidatri to attain the eight siddhis. The eight siddhis that Lord Shiva received from Maa Siddhidatri are тАУ Anima, Mahima, Garima, Laghima, Prapti, Prakamya, Ishitva, and Vashitva.
Maa Siddhidatri was pleased with the austerity of Lord Shiva and granted him the desired accomplishments. According to Hindu scriptures, Maa Adishakti appeared on the left side of Lord Shiva in the form of Maa Siddhidatri, making half the body of Lord Shiva that of Maa Siddhidatri. Since then Lord Shiva is also known as Ardhanarishvara.
