Hanuman ji katha
In olden times, a Brahmin couple had no children and were very unhappy. Once the Brahmin went to the forest to worship Lord Hanuman. There, he prayed to Lord Mahavir for a son. At home, his wife also used to observe a fast on Tuesdays to get a son. She used to eat only after offering food to Lord Hanuman at the end of the fast on Tuesday.
Once on the day of the fast, the Brahmin could neither cook food nor offer food to Lord Hanuman. She vowed that on the next Tuesday, she would eat only after offering food to Lord Hanuman. She remained hungry and thirsty for six days. On Tuesday, she fainted. Lord Hanuman was pleased to see her devotion and dedication. He blessed the Brahmin with a son and said that he would serve her a lot.
The Brahmin was very happy to get the child. She named the child Mangal. After some time, when the Brahmin came home, he saw the child and asked who he was. The wife said that Hanuman ji had given her this child after being pleased with the Tuesday fast. The Brahmin did not believe his wife. One day, seeing an opportunity, the Brahmin dropped the child in the well.
On returning home, the Brahmin woman asked, where is Mangal? Then Mangal came smiling from behind. The Brahmin was surprised to see him back. At night Hanumanji appeared in his dream and told him that he had given him this son. The Brahmin was very happy to know the truth. After this, the Brahmin couple started fasting every Tuesday.
The person who reads or listens to the Tuesday fast story, and keeps the fast regularly, gets all the happiness gets rid of all the troubles by the grace of Hanumanji, and becomes the recipient of Hanumanji's mercy.
Hanuman ji ki kahani
There is a famous story about Lord Hanuman's birthday falling on the full moon day of Chaitra Shukla Paksha. It is said that when King Dasharath distributed the kheer received from Agni Dev to his three queens, an eagle swooped down from Kaikeyi's hand took some kheer in its mouth, and flew back. When the eagle was flying over the ashram of Goddess Anjana, Anjana was looking up.┬а
As Anjana's mouth was open, some part of the kheer fell into her mouth and she unintentionally ate that kheer. Due to this Lord Hanuman, the incarnation of Lord Shiva, was born from her womb. Hanuman ji was born wearing a sacred thread on Tuesday, the Punya Tithi of Chaitra month.
On the day of Hanuman Jayanti, devotees offer sindoor chola, red clothes, flags, etc. according to their capacity. Sandalwood mixed with saffron, yellow flowers like oleander, incense, agarbatti, lamp of pure cow ghee, flour baked in ghee, and jaggery mixed in it, laddus which are also called Kasar ke laddu. These are offered as prasad.
By offering coconut and trees, Lord Hanuman is pleased quickly. Apart from this, grapes and churma can be used in the prasad. Fruits like bananas are also offered. Aarti of Shri Ram Bhakt is done with camphor. After doing Pradakshina, namaskar is done. Bhajan Kirtan and Jagran have special importance.
