Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated on Bhadrapada Shukla Chaturthi. It is believed that Ganesha was born on Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha Chaturthi in the afternoon, on Monday, in Swati Nakshatra and Singh Lagna. That's why this Chaturthi is called Main Ganesh Chaturthi or Vinayaka Chaturthi. It is also famous as Kalank Chaturthi and according to folk tradition, it is also known as Danda Chauth.
