Amavasya in 2025 List
Amavasya has special significance from astrological and religious point of view. On this day, by doing tarpan, puja, bath, etc. for the ancestors, one gets freedom from Pitra Dosh. People who have Pitra Dosh in their horoscope should do something for their ancestors on this date. By offering tarpan, Pitra Dosha is pacified. Solar eclipse occurs only on Amavasya Tithi.
The Paksha starting from Amavasya is called Shukla Paksha. It is said in the Puranas that on this day, remembering one's ancestors, worshiping, and donating to the poor, sins are destroyed. Although all Amavasyas are considered equal, the Amavasya falling on Monday is called Somvati Amavasya. It has special significance compared to other Amavasyas. Bhaumvati and Shanichari Amavasya have special significance for offering prayers to their ancestors.
