According to the story, two stories are the most popular for celebrating Dussehra. According to the first story, Lord Rama defeated Ravana on Ashwin Shukla Dashami and conquered Lanka. That is why this day is celebrated as Vijayadashami or Dussehra. On the other hand, according to another story, Maa Durga fought a fierce battle with Mahishasura for 10 days and killed her on Ashwin Shukla Dashami. That is why this day was celebrated as Vijayadashami. Both these events show the victory of good over evil. There is a mythological belief that weapons should be worshiped on this day. Not only this, but warriors also worship their weapons on this day and also celebrate victory.

Vijayadashmi Worship Method┬а

On the day of Vijayadashami, after bathing in the morning and wearing clean clothes, worship Lord Shri Ram, Goddess Sita, and Hanuman Ji. On this day people make 10 balls from cow dung. Barley seeds are planted on those balls. After that God is worshiped by lighting incense and Diyas and the balls are burnt.


Lord Shri Ram had stopped the arrogant Ravana. In its happiness, floats are taken out. Fairs are held. The enthusiasm of the people is visible in sight. It is believed that after the end of Dussehra worship, the feeling of greed and ego disappears from the mind.
