Ram Navami is considered one of the main festivals of Hindus. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Rama was born on the Navami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. That is why Ram Navami, the birth anniversary of Lord Rama, is celebrated on this day.

Story of Ram Navami



According to the epic Ramayana, when King Dasaratha of Ayodhya, who had three wives, did not get child happiness, King Dasaratha performed the Dashashavamedha Yagya. After the end of the Yagya, the sages gave kheer to King Dashrath in a bowl and asked him to feed all his wives. Then King Dasaratha's first wife Queen Kaushalya, second wife Queen Sumitra, and third wife Queen Kaikeyi ate Kheer and in the ninth month, Queen Kaushalya gave birth to Lord Rama, Queen Sumitra to Lakshmana and Queen Kaikeyi to Bharata and Shatrughna. Later, Lord Rama killed many evils. And he also killed the evil demon Ravana.


With the worship of Ram Navami, the worship of Chaitra month's Navratri also ends. Temples are decorated on the day of Ram Navami. And along with Lord Rama, mother Sita, and brother Lakshmana are also worshiped together. In the worship of Ramnavami, first water, and  Roli, are offered to Lord Rama, then handfuls of rice are offered to the idols. Aarti is performed after the puja. Bhajan Kirtan is also organized on this day. Along with describing the glory of Lord Rama, his child form is worshipped.
