In ancient times, King Suketuman used to rule in a city. He was always worried about the fact that there are no saints in the state. One day King Suketuman went towards the forest and went to the forest and reached a very dense forest. While living in the forest, the king felt very thirsty. He went further inside the forest in search of water where he saw a pond. The king saw that an ashram of sages was also built near the lake and many sages were reciting Vedas.


The king bowed down to all the sages in turn. The sages blessed the king, the king asked the sages the reason for their group. Muni said that he is Vishwadev and has come to the lake to take a bath. From today the bath of Magh month will start from Panchami Tithi and today is Putrada Ekadashi. One who fasts on this day is blessed with a son.


The king has given this report in which Vishwadevgan has said that if you all are happy with me then you can bless me to have a son. Muni said, O king, today is the fast of Putrada Ekadashi. You fast today and see Lord Narayan. The king observed a fast on the holy Ekadashi and performed the rituals as per the method prescribed by the sage. With the auspicious fruit of the fast, the king was blessed with a child. In this way, one who observes this fast gets a son. If there are obstacles to becoming a monk, then by observing this fast, they go away. The person who listens to the greatness of this fast gets salvation.
