Ekadashi List 2025
Ekadashi is an important Hindu festival celebrated on the eleventh day of every lunar fortnight. In Sanskrit, 'Eka' means eleven, and 'Dashi' means the eleventh day. It is considered auspicious by many Hindus as it is believed that during this period, the gods and goddesses were in a state of bliss. This means that this festival can be celebrated twice in the same calendar month. Ekadashi has special significance because on this day Hindus observe a fast to please their favourite deities.
Hindu months have Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha, so every month has two Ekadashis. Generally, Hindus do not eat grains on Ekadashi, but the menu depends from region to region and sect to sect. Some drink only milk, some eat fruits and some even avoid drinking water. In the Hindu religion, fasting on Ekadashi is considered to have great religious importance.
Fasting on Ekadashi is helpful in purification. It also promotes the spiritual progress of the individual, thereby liberating mankind from the cycle of birth and death. As per Hindu scriptures, the eleventh day of any fortnight is considered auspicious for spiritual devotion. The eleventh day of the Indian calendar month Kartik is known as Dev Shayana Ekadashi and is especially significant for Vaishnavas, who believe that fasting on this day frees them from the cycle of birth and death.

Conclusion
According to the Puranas, Ekadashi is also known as 'Hari Din' and 'Hari Vasar'. This fast is observed by both Vaishnav and non-Vaishnav communities. It is said that fasting on Ekadashi gives more results than Havan, Yagya, Vedic rituals, etc. There is also a belief behind observing this fast that by observing it the ancestors attain heaven. The importance of Ekadashi fast has also been mentioned in Skanda Purana. Whoever observes this fast, consumption of wheat, spices, vegetables etc. is prohibited on the day of Ekadashi. Devotees start preparing for the Ekadashi fast a day before i.e. from Dashami itself. On the day of Dashami, devotees wake up early in the morning, take a bath, and eat food without salt on this day. Through online astrological consultation, you can learn in detail about Ekadashi's fast and worship method.
