Story of Vrishabha Sankranti



According to legend, it is said that a long time ago there lived a Vaishya named Dharamdas. He was of a very charitable nature. One day he comes to know about the importance of Akshaya Tritiya that by worshiping the deities and Brahmins and making donations on Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha, one gets Akshay Phal. Since then he starts observing the fast of Akshay Tritiya according to the rules and regulations. On the day of fasting, people start donating things like Sattu, gram, jaggery, curd, etc. Meanwhile, his wife forbade him to do charity. But he did not agree and with devotion, he completed the fast of Akshaya Tritiya. After some time Dharamdas dies. It is said that a few days later he was reborn as a king in some Mati Nagar of Dwarka. It is believed that by fasting on Akshaya Tritiya, he got Raja Yoga as a result. Since then fasting on the day of Vrishabha Sankranti has a lot of recognition.



Importance of donation on Vrishabha Sankranti



Donating on the auspicious occasion of Vrishabh Sankranti is considered to be of utmost importance. Donating a part of your earnings on Akshaya Tritiya gives a lot of merit. On this day the importance of 14 types of charity is told. Donation of cow, land, sesame, gold, cloth, blessed, jaggery, silver, salt, honey, matki, desi ghee, melon, and girl is considered best in this. If one is not able to donate all these things, then all kinds of juices and things used in the summer season can be donated. By donating these things, the bad time goes away.
