It is known from the scriptures that there are many incarnations of Lord Vishnu and they are known by different names. Similarly, there are 33 types of Shaligram. In which the Lord of Shaligram is related to the 24th incarnation of Vishnu. Shaligrams are circular, they are considered as Gopal of Lord Vishnu. On the other hand, the Shaligrams which are in the shape of fish are considered to be the fish incarnation and the Shaligram in the shape of a turtle is considered to be the symbol of turtle incarnation.
