Annaprasan Ceremony 2025
According to Hinduism, every important stage of human life is divided into 16 parts. Based on religion, these 16 parts are named Sanskar, which people organize as a ceremony with full method. One of these sanskars is also 'Annaprashan Sanskar', in which the baby is introduced to grains for the first time in traditional ways. Before the Annaprashan ceremony, the baby depends only on the mother's milk, so it is considered an important occasion. If you are also going to get your child's Annaprashan Sanskar done.
What Is Annaprashan Sanskar?
Annaprasan is a Sanskrit word that means 'beginning of eating grains'. This is also one of the many rites of Hinduism, in which parents start feeding food to their child with the full method, Puja Sanskar. This sanskara is done by feeding rice to the child for the first time. Often parents perform this sanskar with the whole family for their child, which is also considered an important development of his. This is the time when the baby starts taking solid food along with the mother's milk. Annaprasan is a ritual that is known by different names in different states of the country, like Mukhebhaat in West Bengal, Chorunu in Kerala, Bhaatkhulai in Garhwal, etc. After this ritual, the baby is gradually weaned off breastfeeding and is fed mostly solid food.
Method of Annaprasan
After selecting the auspicious date and Muhurta, first of all, clean the entire house on the Annaprasan date and purify it.
After taking a bath, the parents of the newborn should wear new clothes and the baby should also be dressed in new clothes.
After this, sit on a seat with the baby for Annaprasan Puja and light a lamp in front of God.
All the members of the family must participate during Annaprasan Havan.
It is also mandatory for the elders of the family to sit with the parents of the baby in this puja.
During this puja, the Pandit ji should sit facing the north direction, while the parents should sit facing the east direction with the baby in their lap.
First of all, the Pandit ji should feed kheer to the baby.
After the Pandit ji, the parents of the baby should feed him kheer.
The kheer fed to the baby during this sanskar should be made only by the married women of the family.
During this time, other family members should also feed Kheer to the child and give their blessings to the child and the new parents.

Conclusion
Food is extremely important in a person’s life. Annaprasan Sanskar is performed when the child is fed for the first time. During this, the newborn is first fed something made from grains like rice. Most people feed rice pudding to the child. This pudding is considered a symbol of the child starting to take solid food. After Annaprasan Sanskar, the process of feeding the child other foods other than milk begins. If you want to know about the method of Annaprasan for your child then you can talk to astrologers.
